Both the ingestion of research data into a research data center (RDC) and the provision of data by research data centers to secondary users require legal regulations – for example, the consideration of copyright, data protection, and contract law aspects.

The sample contracts and explanations are intended to be an aid for existing and prospective RDCs. The publications each consist of the sample contract and an explanatory document. In the explanatory document, specific aspects of the contract are explained as well as general questions on the topics of data ingestion and data usage are answered.
