The RatSWD mourns the loss of Prof. Dr. Gert G. Wagner

Gert G. Wagner, founding member, former chairman and long-time supporter of the German Data Forum (Rat für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten, RatSWD) passed away on 28 January 2024. For many decades, he successfully worked to sensitise science, research funding and politics to the social relevance of research data and to make data accessible. The RatSWD is grateful for his tireless efforts.

But Gert G. Wagner leaves a gap not only at the political and scientific level. As a mentor and companion, he helped shape the lives of many researchers.

The RatSWD extends its heartfelt condolences to his family.
