20 Years RDC: from rags to (data) riches

How an initiative became a model for success: scientific conference on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the research data centres in Germany on 30 September 2021.

The first Research Data Centre (RDC) in Germany was founded 20 years ago. To mark this anniversary, the KonsortSWD team at LIfBi organised a scientific conference. The event took place in a hybrid format in the Bamberg Hall of Mirrors and online. Experts from the scientific community took a look at the development of the research data infrastructure over the past 20 years and discussed current trends and potential for further development. The demand that policymakers should create the legal framework to improve the work of research data centres and facilitate links between existing and new data sets was a common thread of the event.
